New Rockefeller Institute Report Analyzes Strategies for Financing State Health Reform

June 30, 2009. The Nelson A. Rockefeller Institute of Government released a report this month analyzing the various financing options that states can utilize to fund health coverage expansions. The report, titled “State Financing for Health Coverage Initiatives: Observations and Options,” was prepared by the New York State Health Policy Research Center and concludes by looking at ways to finance health coverage initiatives in New York, where several universal coverage proposals are under consideration.

SHARE Director Lynn Blewett Presents to Minnesota’s Health Care Reform Review Council

NGA Reports State Fiscal Crisis, Warns that States Cannot Implement Federal Health Reform without Financial Help

June 16, 2009.  The National Governors Association (NGA) and the National Association of State Budget Officers (NASBO) released a report last week showing that nearly half of states have experienced negative budget growth in fiscal year (FY) 2009 and that almost three-quarters of states are recommending FY 2010 budgets with negative growth.  The biannual report, titled
