Charts & Tables
The number of Americans who don't have health insurance coverage is large and has grown over time, yet there continues to be debate about exactly how many Americans are uninsured.
Researchers use data from several different national surveys to estimate the number of uninsured people and discrepancies in their estimates are common. Several states also use their own survey estimates.
This section of our web site provides summary charts of tables of key health insurance coverage data, as well as state-level coverage estimates from the U.S. Census Bureaus' Current Population Survey (CPS). The CPS is one of the most commonly-used sources of health insurance coverage estimates for states.
