Data Center Revision History

December 21, 2012
The Data Center has been updated to include calendar year 2011 ACS estimates and revised SHADAC-Enhanced CPS estimates for 2000-2009. Using the Census 2010-based population controls the SHADAC-Enhanced CPS estimates were averaged to occur linearly across years to create a consistent time series between the decades.

October 22, 2012
The Data Center has been updated to include calendar year 2011 estimates for the CPS and SHADAC-Enhanced CPS. The 2010 estimates have also been revised to incorporate the new 2010 Census-based weights released by the Census Bureau.

March 16, 2012
The Data Center has been updated to include calendar year estimates for the ACS.  We have also made several significant enhancements, described here.

November 14, 2011
The Data Center has been updated to include calendar year 2010 for the CPS and SHADAC-Enhanced CPS estimates.  The Census Bureau implemented modified imputation routines for the calendar year 2010 CPS estimates and are described in this technical brief.  These changes reflect improvements to the editing process and a coding correction for direct purchase coverage for children. The Census Bureau also released a revised time series for 1999 to 2009 that incorporates these changes as well as all data processing changes made since 1999. These data processing changes include:

  • 2009 modification to assign Medicaid coverage to uninsured foster children,
  • 2004-2005 adjustment to the assignment of private coverage, and
  • 2001 correction to the assignment of SCHIP to a public coverage source.

ACS estimates for 2010 will be available in early January.

December 13, 2010
The Data Center has been updated to include 2009 estimates from the American Community Survey (ACS).  This update also includes revised 2008 ACS estimates with the logical edits applied to assign some uninsured to coverage, as was done by the Census Bureau for the 2009 ACS.  This will allow for trend analyses of these years.  The Census Bureau has not re-released 2008 data with these estimates.  More information on the logical edits is available in SHADAC's technical brief, "A Summary of the American Community Survey Logical Edits Applied to Health Insurance Coverage."

October 14, 2010
The Data Center has been updated to include calendar year 2009 for the CPS and SHADAC-Enhanced CPS estimates.  Estimates now allow for calculation of insurance coverage by poverty and age categories related to health reform.  Revisions have also been made to improve consistency between the calculation of variables in the CPS and the ACS and to incorporate additional fixes with this release. A complete description of these changes is available in the technical brief, "SHADAC Data Center Enhancements and Revisions 2010." ACS estimates for 2009 will be available in late November or early December 2010.

June 14, 2010
The 2008 American Community Survey data set is now fully functional on the Data Center.

May 12, 2010
The American Community Survey data set has been added to the Data Center.  However, the "family income" table option has been temporarily removed due to some porgramming issues.  We expect to resolve the issue and enable this table by late May.

December 21, 2009
We have corrected a data issue recently discovered on SHADAC’s Data Center:

Data Set:  SHADAC-enhanced CPS
Calendar Year(s):

  • Single years: 1987, 1988
  • 2-year averages: 1987-1988, 1988-1989
  • 3-year averages: 1987-1989, 1988-1990

Problem:  Weights were 100 times too large.  Percents and standard errors were not affected.  The problem has been resolved.
