Sharon K. Long, Ph.D.
Dr. Long is a Senior Economist at SHADAC and Professor in the Division of Health Policy and Management at the University of Minnesota School of Public Health.
Dr. Long is an applied economist with over 25 years of experience conducting quantitative and qualitative policy research. She has conducted numerous studies of the effects of federal and state policy initiatives, relying on both secondary data sources and primary data collection efforts. In recent work she has studied the effects of managed care on health care access and use, examined factors that contribute to high health care costs for Medicaid beneficiaries, and studied the effects of rising premiums on health insurance coverage. She has also directed on-going household surveys in Massachusetts and consulted for similar surveys in other states.
Dr. Long holds a Ph.D. in economics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and most recently was Senior Fellow at The Urban Institute’s Health Policy Center.
