This student project is a critical literature review that examines what it means to be underinsured and the ways of determining the number of people in the United States who are underinsured. The project critically evaluates the typology arguing that it contains various confusions and fails to appreciate the interrelationships that exist between the various aspects of underinsurance. Health Insurance Coverage for Persons Leaving Welfare

SHADAC student paper examining the factors that affect welfare leavers’ health insurance status using longitudinal data from Minnesota. Unlike prior research that focuses on state program procedures, this research concentrates on individual characteristics and motivations that determine welfare leavers’ health coverage using psychologists' expectancy value theory. Health Insurance Coverage for Hispanic/Latino Children: 1996 to 2005

This SHADAC student paper seeks to identify how health insurance coverage trends (public, private and uninsured) changed for Hispanic/Latino children from 1996 to 2005. It finds that Hispanic/Latino children saw significant reductions in the percent of uninsured children from 28.2 percent to 22.0 percent and significant increases in public health insurance from 30.3 percent to 39.6. May 2007.
