Maya Benedict

Maya is a second-year master's student in the Public Health Administration & Policy program at the University of Minnesota School of Public Health. She holds a B.A. in International Studies from Macalester College and worked in politics and as a butcher before starting her graduate program in 2021. In addition to her current work at SHADAC, Maya researches workforce development in the local meat processing industry for the Regional Sustainable Development Partnerships (RSDP), directs the Rural Health Interest Group, and helps chair the Aging Studies Interest Group. Her interests include rural health, healthcare access, food security, and global health.
