Research Assistant

Sydney joined SHADAC as a Graduate Research Assistant in May 2020. She supports the qualitative research efforts of the SHADAC team and has been on many projects to support literature reviews, data presentation, and situation updates. In addition to working at SHADAC, Sydney is a candidate for a Master's in Public Health, Public Health Policy and Administration (PHAP). She intends to graduate in May of 2021. During her Master's degree education, she has worked for the State of Minnesota Health Department in Family Home Visiting Evaluation and for the Minnesota CHW Alliance as a contracted Registry Project Manager. 

Sydney previously graduated from the University of Iowa with dual degrees in Health and Human Physiology: Health Promotion, B.A. and Engaged Social Innovation, B.A. with a Certificate in Nonprofit Management. Her thesis was in breastfeeding acceptability and was a self-led, quasi-experimental study of a breastfeeding intervention on college-aged students, sponsored by the Behavioral Medicine Laboratory at the University of Iowa. Post-graduation, Sydney ran a food pantry that served approximately 1000 households a week, managing a part-time employee and 200 weekly-volunteers.
