Mateo Frumholtz
PhD Student

Mateo received his BS in Biochemistry and MPH from the University of Minnesota. Since graduating, he has spent 5 years working at the Minnesota Department of Health as an epidemiologist in the Refugee Health Program. His time there has been spent partially responding to COVID-19, but mostly working on health surveillance projects aimed at improving health outcomes for newcomers.

Mateo's research interests include the overlap of migration and health policy, with a strong passion for universal health care. Central to studies of migration, he is also very interested in history, political economy, and how global systems shape global public health policy.

In his free time Mateo enjoys biking, climbing, reading, local organizing, and going through an endless phase of new hobbies.
