Quin Nelson is a Health Equity Fellow and Research Assistant at SHADAC. They are currently pursuing their master's degree at the University of Minnesota School of Public Health. A proud TRIO McNair Scholar alumnus, they received their B.A. in Sociology with Psychology and German minors from Augsburg University in 2021. Their main research interests are mental health equity in relation to severe mental health conditions, as well as media depictions of mental illness and their impact on public perception. In addition to their role at SHADAC, they serve as the SPH Student Senate President, as well as conduct qualitative research related to synthesizing communication strategies between public health organizations, thought leaders, narrative change strategists, and health journalists in promoting health and racial equity in media.
