Dr. Blewett is Director of SHADAC, as well as a Professor in the Division of Health Policy and Management at the University of Minnesota, School of Public Health. She also directs the State Health Access Reform Evaluation (SHARE), a RWJF national program that funds and rigorously evaluates health reform at the state level.
Dr. Blewett conducts research on the factors affecting health insurance coverage and access to and use of health care as these factors relate to state health policy.
Dr. Blewett has published over 50 articles related to health and healthcare. She teaches graduate courses on the U.S. health care system and international health systems. She’s a member of the National Academy of Social Insurance, was appointed to the Board of Scientific Counselors for the National Center for Health Statistics, and serves on the boards of AcademyHealth and the University of Minnesota Medical Center (UMMC). Her health policy experience includes legislative work for the U.S. Senate and state policy work as Director of the Health Economics Program for the Minnesota Department of Health.
Dr. Blewett holds a Ph.D. in Health Services Research, Policy and Administration from the University of Minnesota, a master’s in Public Affairs from the Hubert. H. Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota and a B.A. in psychology from the University of Wisconsin at Madison.
